Beautifully Mundane

This project was one of my first extended bodies of work at university. It was a way of making sense of the everyday moments constantly passing us by. The tiny encounters that make up most of our time, but rarely do we get to focus on or appreciate them, especially in today’s fast paced and increasingly digital society.

These are photos were made in a matter of seconds, they required no planning or set up. They aren’t perfect and yet in capturing and sequencing them I had finally discovered a new form of photographic seeing that shows things in a simple and refreshing. I wanted to elevate the small and seemingly insignificant moments of everyday life.

This project was a way of me stepping back and removing the pressure of

getting the perfect shot. I simply observed the world around me. As this project progressed, I became even more mindful of the similarities and connections I was observing all around me.

Above is just a handful of images that I made during this project.
